(My)Selfportraits II

Some more self portraits in Anton Corbijn's style, I'm kind of losing touch of the original plan to depict myself as the heroes of my youth (famous rockstars). I've come up with a few other ideas, which I like a lot more as well. Maybe I'll put this one on hold for the time being...

Krysis // Inspiration, Desperation and Acceptance

Some more photography, yay! This assignment was a disaster though, it started out as a 3 man project, we were gonna make a stop motion video about 3 completely different guys getting pestered by the wind blowing in their apartments. Well one guy quit school, so we had trouble meeting the deadline. Fortunately our teacher was kind enough to extend our deadline till the end of the autumn break. We thought up a new concept, about how everything went wrong with our original plan, I was really motivated and really wanted to put some time in making a short movie about it (with my very limited editing skills). And then the other guy didn't have time to make it during autumn break. Ehm, shit what now? Well this, I might not be good at making video's but photography is something I can do, so not drift to far from the concept about making something about how horrible it all was, I made this series. It's not exactly how I thou

The last designer I'll be making one of these for, Eric Gill, will also be the starting point of a more in depth research. In a future assignment I'll be making something based on him, his life, his work etc.

These two pictures are the start point of a booklet I'll be working on the next few months. The book will contain selfportraits telling stories from my past.

Pitbull // Self vs Self

Another take on the pitbull assignement, a bit more photographical than the last one. Things still didn't go exactly as I had intended them to be, chances are I will have another take at this.

Designers of the Old Days // Arnold Genthe

So my previous design was rejected pretty harshly, so I did a new design with a new artist. This time I chose Arnold Genthe a famous photographer and one of the first to use colour photography.

Designers of the Old Days // Lodewijk Schelfhout

After some research on dutch designers working 'round the 30's I made these posters, they're based on Lodewijk Schelfhout a dutch graphic artist and painter who was the first dutch artist to be involved with cubism. Instead of just taking a photo of him (what my teacher wanted) I put some extra effort in this and tried my hand at cell shading. So what I did: I took a small 100x70 image and blew it up to a2 format, traced the outlines and start messing with the brush, mixer brush, smudge tool and the burn and dodge tools. It took up quiet a bit of time, more than I expected, but whatever, who needs sleep anyway?
